Planning your travels way ahead of time certainly pays off. I had just booked an award seat flying Cathay Pacific Business Class from New York (JFK) to Jakarta (CGK) for October 2019 for only USD 32.
I was actually trying to find seats from Chicago to Jakarta but couldn’t find any so I tried the closest major city in the East Coast which is NYC, and the moment the agent said there were 2 seats available, I had to secure them right away.

If it has availability it will show you how many seats are available for miles redemption.
If you were to purchase the same seat on the same exact flight it would cost close to IDR 67,000,000.
I had booked with American Airlines AAdvantage miles using 70,000 miles and USD 32 in taxes.
I collect American Airlines miles from flying One World partner airlines, I recently accrued a good amount of miles from flying Etihad Airways and Japan Airlines in business class which earned me double the miles.
I also collect SPG/Marriott points that are transferable to over 30 airline partners including American Airlines.
There are many ways to collect airline miles, flying is one thing but mostly from credit card transactions and other online activities such as booking hotels through Rocketmiles or Agoda that can earn you airline miles without the flying!
